The WTA Season is finally over. Victoria Azarenka is No. 1. Serena won the WTA Championships. Nadia Petrova won Sofia. The Czechs won Fed Cup. Now it’s time to rest and make party. But before we do let’s look back at 10 things you might have already forgotten about this fabulous WTA Season.
I am so excited about the Fed Cup Final this weekend. I mean, just look at this line-up…
Let’s look at the head-to-heads: Ivanovic-Safarova: 2-3; Jankovic-Kvitova: 0-1; Ivanovic-Kvitova: 3-1; Jankovic-Safarova: 5-1
Lucie Safarova, Petra Kvitova, Jelena Jankovic, and Ana Ivanovic. All of them are awesome in their own unique and special ways. I mean what could possibly go wrong?
Okay, so the truth is that a lot could go wrong. And I mean A LOT.
I love you. I really, really do.
But we need to talk.
The WTA year is technically already over. How do I know that? Well, the WTA Year End Championships featuring the top players on tour has already been completed. A Champion has been crowned. All that is supposed to be left is Fed Cup, a team competition. Then… off-season!!
BUT NO. There’s more. Let’s look at your website:
Stan Wawrinka is one of the best tennis players to follow on twitter. If you don’t follow him yet, please do so now. He especially shows his sense of humor through his RTs. Below are some of my favorites.
(All tweets below are real and were indeed RTed by @stanwawrinka himself. You can fact check me on that one.)
You guys, Julien Benneteau is just awesome.
He’s awesome at tennis. When he’s on his game, the enigmatic Frenchmen effortlessly prances around the court, hitting winners at will.
He’s awesome at being dramatic. All Benneteau matches are like HBO mini-series. I’ve seen him shake hands with his opponent and take a bow after the second point of the match, yell at fans on the sidewalks through the fence and wind screens for being too loud, and sit on a match-time clock and refuse to move until an umpire changed a ruling.
