Some new videos from the last couple of days: Serena Williams and Jelena Jankovic got into a dust-up during their Dubai match, and Alize Cornet hit a ridiculous lob in her semifinal win over Serena.
Serena had an interesting theory as to why she lost to Cornet:
“I started out extremely slow. I have actually been looking at a turtle every day — it’s a really cute turtle in the hotel. Maybe I was too influenced by it.”
Miguel Morales wrote a thought-provoking piece for Forbes on the pay disparity between the ATP and WTA outside of the slams.
Rafael Nadal is still dealing with some residual pain from the back injury he sustained in Australia:
“When one comes back from an injury in a short period of time, you can always feel a need to be cautious,” he said. “I felt it (the back) a bit. But I hope things continue to improve day by day. Little by little the back will be strong again. I’ll get used to the competition and the back won’t keep me from playing future tournaments.”
