Delpo’s wrist is acting up again, and he had to retire in Dubai after dropping a close first set to Devvarman. It’s sad and he’s sad and we’re all sad about Delpo.

From his Facebook post:

First of all I want to thank you for the support that is coming from all over the world. Of course, it is a sad moment for me. This is not what I planned when I was doing the tough preseason training in December, when I dreamed about having the chance of getting closer to the top players. However, it is not the first obstacle I find during my career. If I have learnt something, it’s to get up after I fall.

The Slice has some great photos from the Dubai player party. Whatever you do, don’t miss the chance to scroll down and see the pic of the Davydenko clan at the bottom of the post. Trust me.

Reem Abulleil talked with Sergei Bubka Jr. in Dubai. His comeback from his fall in November 2012 is pretty extraordinary.

Bubka himself had moments when he doubted he’d be able to walk properly again, let alone compete as a tennis professional.

‘When I was on crutches, first I thought maybe it will be for two months, after two months I did x-rays and they said at least another month. After three months, at least another month,’ [Bubka Jr.] said. ‘And every time it got extended – after six months if I wouldn’t be able to get off the crutches I’d have to get another operation.

‘So at that stage of course I wasn’t thinking anymore about tennis, it was about getting back on my feet.’

This is a really sweet profile of Aljaz Bedene and his girlfriend.
