Juan Martin del Potro is keeping us posted on his recovery, which may get him back on tour before the US Open:
The doctor is pleased with the recovery and even though I still have to wear the splint, I will begin doing rehabilitation exercises to regain mobility in the wrist.
Richard Gasquet’s back problems haven’t improved enough for him to return to the court. At this point, he’s out of Madrid and Rome, and must be considered in doubt for Roland Garros, as well.
Marion Bartoli will play the Liverpool exhibition event the weekend before Wimbledon, sparking yet another round of comeback rumors and comeback denials around the reigning Wimbledon champ.
The feisty Frenchwoman, who is as known off the court as she is on both for her fashion sense and wide ranging interests, will join Greg Rusedski and Virginia Wade to headline the tournament in June at the Liverpool Cricket Club.
Former top-five player Fernando Gonzalez will work with Santiago Giraldo, marking yet another former star’s entry into the coaching ranks:
“I will be with Santi for a few weeks a year,” said Gonzalez, who trained with Giraldo the week before the Colombian reached the final in Barcelona. “I have been retired for two years and the competition is calling me.”
