The Steubenville rape victim’s family were appreciative of Serena Williams’ apology for her comments, per the Daily Mail:

‘We just read Serena’s updated comments and we’re proud of her for correcting and clarifying her prior statements,’ the family said, according to a statement issued on their behalf by attorney Bob Fitzsimmons. ‘We are sure Serena has and will continue to use her God-given talents to advance women’s equality and send the message that rape is never acceptable under any circumstance.

‘We are fans of Serena and will continue rooting for many more championships but more importantly watching her advance the cause of rape victims who are never to blame.’

Williams also spoke with the family for half an hour, according to USA Today.

Hannah Wilks sat down with Jamie Hampton for Tennis.com.

Former doubles Grand Slam champion Bob Hewitt, accused of sexually abusing young girls, has been summoned to appear in South African court.

Radek Stepanek and Nicole Vaidisova are getting divorced. And then there’s this:

One Czech newspaper reported that Stepanek is now seeing 2011 Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova, who has split from her longtime boyfriend, another Czech player, Adam Pavlasek.

“I am aware of the rumors, but prefer not to talk about my private life,” Kvitova said in statement obtained by TENNIS.com. “Wimbledon is the most important tournament of the year for me and I would like to play my best tennis and focus only on winning matches. Therefore will you please try to respect my wish not to comment on my private life during the tournament.”

Matt Cronin had a very good point on Twitter.

Why is the WTA putting so much emphasis on fashion/glamor?
Their love for purple/pink like it’s the Barbie section at Toys-R-Us is quite disturbing as well.
