Sloane Stephens has been struggling with wrist problems since the beginning of the year:

Stephens, who is right handed with a two-handed backhand, described it as ligament related. She ices it after playing, but when it flares up, the only solution is rest.

Juan Martin del Potro has wrist problems of his own that caused him to retire from his first round match in Dubai last week. Nonetheless, he’s traveling to Indian Wells to see if he’s healthy enough to play:

“It’s hurting all the time, sometimes less and sometimes a little more. But it’s hurting, and I have been in contact with my doctor all the time. He’s trying to keep me motivated to keep playing, but I know what is my limit playing on court,” he said after stopping mid-match in Dubai.
