Elle magazine profiled Sloane Stephens, and the results, are, well, this:

When I ask in the car on the way home what gifts [Jack] Sock has given her thus far in their year-plus relationship, she says, “Pretty much anything I want.” Then she volunteers that though she and rival Caroline Wozniacki wear earrings with the same size diamonds, Stephens “paid way less” for hers, which are “almost perfect” stones. “[Wozniacki] got ripped off.” As for her education, “I got the college experience without going to college. I don’t miss it. When my friends are like, ‘I’m going to class,’ I’m like, ‘I’m going to take a nap.’ ” While the reporter in me might be expected to consider it a score to witness this kind of unscripted attitude—an inside look at the real Sloane!—I feel a mix of discomfort and skepticism. Discomfort because her behavior triggers memories of my own selfish adolescent moments, and skepticism because I don’t fully buy the cartoonish brattiness. It seems like some kind of unconscious ploy to put people at a distance, to keep expectations low.

If you haven’t read that entire profile yet, you need to. It’s quite something. That excerpt doesn’t do it justice.

Speaking of Sloane, she took over the ESPY’s red carpet with Sharapova and Dimitrov. Pics here.

Want young blood in the ATP? Well, Alexander Zverev has climbed over 400 spots in the ATP rankings over the past few weeks, and now he’s into the Hamburg semis. Pay attention.

Ugh. Patrick Mouratoglou is also saying things again. Via The Guardian:

Speculation of a rift has been denied by Mouratoglou, who told France’s Tennis Magazine: ‘Serena is clearly going through a difficult period. But since Wimbledon, we have had long hours of talks and we are getting back to work.

‘Today she is in the mood to get back to training so she can return even stronger. At no time was there any question of us stopping our collaboration.

‘I have never discussed private matters and I am not going to talk about them now. There have been difficult things. For sure, Serena is in a difficult phase but I will leave it there.’

This amazing thing happened:

Tennis on Social Media:

Is it too late for a Throwback Thursday? I’m about 18 here sporting a look that had broken a few hearts. …Mainly of those who are into guys that look like Shaggy from Scoobie Doo #tbt

Out and about in Istanbul. It’s been 3 years since I have worn heels on a normal day out. #feelsgood #looksgood #shopping #highheels #sun

Sloane Stephens. Wow. With an attitude like that, one can only hope she continues to underwhelm and underachieve. Feel bad for Jack Sock.
