Roland Garros, Day 1: An Accounting

How I spent my first day at Roland Garros, a time record:

2 Hours, 45 Minutes: Eating tiny desserts and canapes in the lounge, while it poured outside.

1 HourWalking to and from the metro to Roland Garros, including bonus time retracing path due to bad instructions from security.

45 Minutes: Attempt to watch matches on outer courts, including Golubic (successful) and Dustin Brown (unsuccessful), watch Simona Halep and Darren Cahill hit (his groundies still look pretty impressive!), and Aga Radwanska hit a few volleys.

40 Minutes (tie): Standing in line to buy 45 Euro umbrella.  It’s a nice umbrella.

40 Minutes (tie): Eating ham, cheese and butter sandwich while listening to the crowd on Lenglen chant “Ben-OIT, Ben-OIT, Ben-OIT” during the fifth set of his match.  Extra chewing time required because humidity makes baguettes chewier.

30 Minutes: Watched actual tennis on Chatrier from my seats, including time huddled under umbrella hoping tennis would continue.

More adventures to come!
