Changeover Music: Killing It Live
As 2013 rolls in, Changeover Music will change its format a bit. It will return to its Tuesday slot starting next week, but instead of focusing on one song, I’ll be picking a new batch of tunes every week. Also, the last Changeover Music of the month will be focused on an entire album. I’ll keep an eye on new releases, but I’ll also be picking old favorites.
For this week’s edition, here are five songs performed live in pretty spectacular fashion and in no particular order:

Changeover Music – The Best Song of 2012: “Pyramids”, by Frank Ocean
There are only four more days to go in 2012, so I feel pretty secure in handing the Best Song of the Year trophy to a tune that still stands out as the most powerful artistic statement I heard all year: Frank Ocean’s “Pyramids”, from his channel ORANGE album, which is also my pick for the Best Album of 2012.

Changeover Music – Best Songs of 2012: “Origins,” by Tennis
Welcome to the fourth installment of a special series of Changeover Music, where I’ll be picking my favorite songs of 2012. Today, I write about Tennis’ “Origins”

He is doing 24 dates in 30 days to promote his second Christmas-themed EP box set, Silver and Gold. The name of the tour? “The Sirfjam Stephanapolous Christmas Sing-A-Long Seasonal Affective Disorder Spectacular Music Pageant Variety Show Disaster” (Click here to see seven “promotional” videos produced for the album and the tour).
Here are a few things that happened at the concert:

Changeover Music – Best Songs of 2012: “Crack Rock”, by Frank Ocean
Welcome to the second installment of a special series of Changeover Music, where I’ll be writing about my favorite songs of 2012. Of course, I’d love to play some of these tunes at tennis tournaments, but sadly all the arena DJ jobs are taken by people with little to no taste. Yes, Paris DJ, I’m looking at you. When would you play this song during a tennis match? Who would be the players? Feel free to leave your answers in the comments section below.

Changeover Music: Sexy Boy
And now for something completely different: the first installment of Changeover Music! Here we let loose on our dream of being the stadium DJs during tennis matches. Of course, nobody will hire us. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is playing Julien Benneteau in Paris today. Hence, we have to go with a French band, right? And why not […]
