Happy Valentine’s Day, tennis fans! I hope that you are all having a great day filled with lots of different types of love. Earlier today we were all subjected to RedFoo’s love, when he tweeted his valentine to Vika. After that, I thought we could all use a pick-me-up. So in honor of February the 14th, here are 14 tennis videos that never fail to make me smile:
1. Mikhail Youzhny and Yevgeny Plushenko make the best commercial ever.
2. Marat Safin makes everyone in the world jealous of a line judge.
3. Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer cannot stop laughing.
4. Tsonga and Monfils Dance. And don’t hurt themselves.
5. Merry Christmas.
6. Sharapova plays tennis against everyone in Japan.
7. Tsonga, Nadal, and Monfils party on New Year’s Eve.
8. Andy Roddick talks about love.
9. Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini are very Italian and adorable.
10. The WTA stars get personal.
11. Roland Garros Karaoke. #NeverForget
12. Gilles Simon high-fives his son. Precious.
13. Aga tries to play golf. It does not go well.
14. Jamie Fox sings to Serena Williams.
What am I missing? Please include your favorites in the comments. Love you guys!
Lindsay is an author, a filmmaker, a long-winded blogger, and a huge tennis fan.
For me it’s not-so-much the pairing, I just find him to be ridiculous. If he makes Vika happy and treats her right then that’s all that matters, and we’re in no position to think that he doesn’t. I’ve never been an LMFAO fan, and find a lot of the things he does–such as interrupting press conferences and wearing shirts promoting his albums when she’s playing a tennis match–to be more self-serving than supportive. But that’s a personal preference.
He gets a lot of hate because he is so different, and that’s not usually fair, but every single thing he does seems to be with the purpose of drawing attention to himself. That I do not like.
And in this case that was just a really, really, really crazy video, LOL.
Perhaps at the root of my problem is an unfair judgement regarding the age difference and his appearance. Certainly it seems like he loves Vika and loves women’s tennis and as a Vika fan and women’s tennis fan myself, that’s wonderful. But often the way he goes about things leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Hope this explains it- I can only speak for myself of course.
You’ve hit the nail on the head…it’s because it seems to be more about HIM than about her/them.
I agree with you, as a woman and a Vika-appreciator (if not exactly a fan), if he treats her well and loves her, the ridiculous hair and age difference doesn’t matter the slightest. But it’s the jumping into Vika’s post AO title win interview to talk about himself and all the things he does on the stands to draw attention to himself.
Like you said, this is from an observer’s point of view that he seems to be riding on her coat-tails to gain even more fame for himself and his “music”. I do not know what happens behind closed doors, for all I know, he may truly love her, and if that’s the case, then I wish both of them well.
And to stick on topic – the Youzhny Chups Chups video and the Federer/Nadal gigglefits video is pure gold.

Thanks for the response. Frankly I think Pova’s previous fiancee was a bit more offensive than this RedFoo fellow. I guess both men felt the need to be champions of their lady loves. Why could they not be all like Common. He was so laid back and cool and appreciative of Serena when they were dating. Notice how one man does show his support without making himself a part of the story while the other 2 seem to want to be the story.
Similar to the Sharapova one-

Hey Linz, I am curious to know why you and others seem to have an issue with the RedFoo/Vika pairing?

There is a slew of Roddick press conferences that I cannot find right now. But the Fed/Nadal crackup vid – the BEST 🙂
